DUPLEX FILM LIDDING STOCK

  • The usual combination of films for this application (lidding for vacuum or injection molded container lids) is polyester film gauge 12µ, laminated over printed 12µ or 36µ or 50µ polyester (which may be metallised, clear or white) on the top side and heatseal coated on the bottom side.
  • The heatseal used is “universal” in that it will seal to all common containers – polystyrene, pvc, polypropylene, polyethylene, abs and others. However, testing is advisable.
  • When supplied as pre-cut lids the film is “needle” or “pin” embossed to allow separation during dispensing when supplied as reels, this is not necessary.
  • Supplied as reels, this is not necessary.
  • Only certain tools can punch polyester so sizes and shapes are at present subject to enquiry.
  • Variations are subject to enquiry and procurement of raw materials.
  • Width, OD, Core type and size, are per clients requirements

MONOFILM LIDDING STOCK

  • The usual film for this application (lidding for vacuum or injection molded container lids) is polyester film gauge 50µ, which can be printed on the top side and heatseal coated on the bottom side. It can be clear, white or metallised.
  • The heatseal used is “universal” in that it will seal to all common containers – polystyrene, pvc, polypropylene, polyethylene, abs and others. However, testing is advisable.
  • Supplied as pre-cut lids the film is “needle” or “pin” embossed to allow separation during dispensing.
  • Supplied as reels, this is not necessary.
  • Only certain tools can punch polyester so sizes and shapes are at present subject to enquiry.
  • Variations are subject to enquiry and procurement of raw materials.
  • It should be noted that gloss and scuff resistance are not as good as they are on over-laminated film.

PAPER / METPET / HEATSEAL LIDSTOCK

  • The usual combination for this product is 45gsm coated bleached kraft (cbk) adhesive laminated to metallised 12µ polyester, this coated with 2-4gsm clear heatseal (usually specific to polystyrene).
  • The clay coating on the paper allows high quality graphics.
  • Spec variations are possible, subject to enquiry and procurement of raw materials This specification was developed specifically for high speed automated form/fill/seal machinery and must be thoroughly tested, in consultation, prior to supply
  • Width, OD, Core type and size, are per clients requirements
  • Cut sheets are not advised due to likely curling problems.

ALUFOIL / LDPE CAPPING STRIP (PCS)

  • Foil used in this specification is 40µ, alloy 1200, soft.
  • The LDPE is 30µ clear and will seal well to most LDPE/HDPE containers in general use.
  • While variations of foil and/or sealant film are possible, subject to availability and enquiry, we strongly recommend this combination as it has been in daily use for many years, with very little trouble.
  • We carry large quantities of laminated material, and reels slit to 60mm on 57mm cores, in a variety of stock colours, ready for immediate despatch.
  • Variations are subject to enquiry and procurement.

UNLAMINATED ALUFOIL, ONE SIDE VARNISHED AND PRINTED THE OTHER HEATSEAL COATED

  • This specification covers pre-cut lids and reels for dairy and other food applications. the clear heatseal lacquer on the underside is designed to seal to various plastic containers.
  • Unless otherwise specified the alloy will be 8079, which is 99.00 minimum purity, but slightly stronger than alloy 1200 temper is normally fully soft (annealed).
  • Matt or bright side must be specified for printing and/or clear varnishing and/or heatseal coating.
  • Minimum gauge of foil for this specification is usually 38µ and 48µ in some applications.
  • Print/Width number of colours may be subject to enquiry.
  • Pre-cut lids are normally embossed “worm” or “grub” pattern for ease of dispensing. There is a variety of standard sizes, and some common plain lids are held in stock.
  • Reel material may or may not be embossed

UNLAMINATED ALUFOIL, ONE SIDE VARNISHED AND / OR PRINTED

  • This specification also covers “confectionery” foil, and some “cheesefoils”.
  • Unless otherwise specified the Alloy will be 1200, which is 99.00 minimum purity.
  • Temper is normally fully soft (annealed)
  • Matt or bright side must be specified for printing and/or clear varnishing and/or lacquering.
  • Print/Width number of colours may be subject to enquiry.
  • Usual gauge range for these products: 9 – 18µ
  • Width, OD, Core type and size, are per clients requirements
  • Embossing is possible – existing and new patterns are subject to enquiry.
  • Cut sheets are possible in this specification – must be overall clear varnished to enable bulk cutting/shearing without welding.
